The Village of Millport Fire Department proudly service the residents of the Village of Millport, Town of Veteran and Town of Catlin with a total population of 3,500 plus residents and growing. We serve a rural area of 54 square miles. We work out of one Fire Station and are 100% Volunteer Fire Department consisting of 28 Active Members. We respond to around 175 calls each year. We provide mutual aid to 7 other fire departments serving another 20,000 resident. We operate 2 Engines, 1 Tanker, 1 SUV for EMS Reponse and 1 Brush Truck with an UTV to help serve with Brush Fires or EMS Calls on the Catherine Valley Trail. Millport was orginally known as Millvale until it developed as a port along the Chemung Canal. That created the name are known by today. We are situated between the southern tip of the Finger Lakes region and the northern border of the Pennsylvania. Our response area is mostly residential with a lot of forested area. We draw in a lot of tourists due to our proximity to the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes. MIllport itself remains a quiet village, but there is always the prospect of the occasional lake effect snow but not to the extent of areas further north. Nor'easters occasionally impact us with the heavy snow as well. the Major highway through our region is State Route 14, which travels 8 miles through our district carrying about 7,500 vehicle through our village each day. About 12% of thise vehicles are commercial trucks.
